New volunteers

There are many ways you can support the Minnesota Orchestra throughout the year:

Concert Usher – Assist guests attending Minnesota Orchestra concerts. (Daytime, evening and weekend.)

Young People’s Concert Usher – Assist children and families attending morning Young People’s Concerts. (Daytime.)

Coffee Concert Bus Captain – Greet concert guests and ride with them to and from the concert on our Coach Bus service from area malls. (Daytime.)

Coffee Concert Host – Serve concert guests refreshments. (Daytime.)

Community Events volunteer – Represent the Minnesota Orchestra by interacting with guests and distributing information at community events including Twin Cities Pride Festival, Symphony for the Cities outdoor concerts, the Minnesota State Fair, etc. (Seasonal; indoor and outdoor.)

Administrative volunteer – Assist with administrative tasks including mailings, data entry, etc. (Seasonal; typically daytime.)

Volunteer Requirements

  • Volunteers must be able to commit to a minimum of 25 hours per season (except Symphony Ball, Administrative and Community Events volunteers).
  • Volunteers must have a valid e-mail address.
  • Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.
  • New volunteers must complete a training session prior to the first volunteer shift. All volunteers must complete a brief refresher training annually.
  • Volunteers will be asked to follow a dress code for shifts. Some shifts require a specified uniform that will be provided by the Minnesota Orchestra.
  • Volunteers must exhibit a positive, welcoming attitude and be responsive to coaching and direction.
