On June 19, 2020, Classical Minnesota Public Radio will broadcast, for the first time in its entirety, Minnesota Orchestra's newly-released recording of Gustav Mahler's Seventh Symphony. The broadcast will also include an interview with Principal Timpani Erich Rieppel about the recording experience.

  • Mahler’s Seventh Symphony depicts an epic voyage from night to day across five virtuoso movements. It opens with a massive, forceful storm, followed by three central movements that offer hopeful faces of the night, and concludes with a grandiose finale that delivers a rush of incandescent energy overflowing with melodic ideas.
  • Music Director Osmo Vänskä leads the Minnesota Orchestra through this powerful symphony, originally recorded at Orchestra Hall in November 2018 as the sixth installment in the Orchestra's exploration of all ten symphonies of Gustav Mahler.
