The Sounds of the Seine

Music and travel go hand in hand, and the Minnesota Orchestra and Minnesota Public Radio are creating a new made-for-music-lovers river cruise experience down the Seine. Scheduled for April 1-10, 2024, enjoy a seven-night cruise to Normandy along the beautiful Seine including stops at D-Day Beaches, Monet's Garden at Giverny, the Cathedral at Rouen followed by two post-cruise April nights in Paris. YourClassical MPR Host Melissa Ousley and pianist Jon Kimura Parker, who is the Orchestra’s Creative Partner for Summer at Orchestra Hall, are the music hosts who will guide travelers through this unique experience and, in the case of Kimura Parker, offer regular evening performances on the river boat.

MPR and the Minnesota Orchestra first teamed up to offer a musical cruise down the Danube last fall. If the prospect of taking a cruise with other music lovers to great musical locations is intriguing to you, peruse through these comments from our Danube travelers and consider if Paris in springtime might be in your future.

We were expecting a wonderful time, but the trip went far beyond our expectations. Not only were the concerts in historic venues wonderful, but night after night we enjoyed beautiful music in the intimate on-board setting with our Minnesota Orchestra friends and so many people who shared our love for classical music.”
