Jessie Montgomery's Starburst

Minnesota Orchestra audiences responded with great excitement for the music of New York-based composer Jessie Montgomery after an October performance of Strum. Now, listen to another great work by Montgomery, recorded live on New Year's Eve and conducted by Music Director Osmo Vänskä.

Packed with energetic motives and layers of bright, swirling ideas, Starburst reflects the formation of new stars in a galaxy and seeks to musically represent the members of the dynamic ensemble for which the piece was written: The Sphinx Virtuosi.
