William Ramos

Contrabassoon

William Ramos joined the Minnesota Orchestra as contrabassoonist in fall 2024. He previously held the same title in the Grant Park Orchestra. In addition, he has performed with many symphony orchestras, including those of Chicago, Houston Symphony, Nashville and San Francisco.

As a bassoonist, Ramos has had considerable success in competitions such as the Texas Music Festival’s Cynthia Woods Mitchell Competition, where he earned second prize and audience favorite, and the Florida Orchestra’s Justine LeBaron Young Artist Competition where he earned first prize. He was a student of Benjamin Kamins at Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music.
