Dessa Returns to Orchestra Hall for Concerts with the Minnesota Orchestra

Minneapolis native rapper-vocalist-writer Dessa performs with the Orchestra, October 5 and 6

Sarah Hicks conducts orchestral arrangements by Andy Thompson

Minnesota rapper-vocalist-writer Dessa performs a new program with the Minnesota Orchestra on October 5 and 6, conducted by Sarah Hicks, principal conductor of Live at Orchestra Hall. The concerts include music from the Minneapolis native’s newly-released album Chime, arranged for orchestra by composer-arranger Andy Thompson. The concerts are Dessa’s third collaboration with the Orchestra following two sold-out concerts in April 2017 and a memorable performance as guest artist at the Orchestra’s 2017 Symphony Ball. As a correspondent for Classical Minnesota Public Radio, she traveled with the Minnesota Orchestra to document the Orchestra’s August 2018 tour in South Africa. In the upcoming concerts, Dessa is joined onstage by vocalists Aby Wolf, Ashley DuBose, Cameron Kinghorn and Matthew Santos, as well as percussionist Joey Van Phillips.

The concerts are held at Orchestra Hall in downtown Minneapolis on Friday, October 5, at 8 p.m., and Saturday, October 6, at 8 p.m., with ticket prices ranging from $50 to $150. More information is available at minnesotaorchestra.org and by phone at 612-371-5656.  For further purchasing details, refer to the information section at the conclusion of this press release.
