Led by Sarah Hicks, Tony and Grammy-Award winning vocalist Renée Elise Goldsberry performs one-night-only concert at Orchestra Hall
The Minnesota Orchestra announced today that a new concert has been added to the 2018-19 Live at Orchestra Hall season: vocalist Renée Elise Goldsberry will perform on Saturday, March 9, 2019, with the Minnesota Orchestra under the direction of Principal Conductor of Live at Orchestra Hall Sarah Hicks. Winner of a Tony Award, Grammy Award, Drama Desk Award and Lucille Lortel Award for her performance as Angelica Schuyler in the musical phenomenon Hamilton, Goldsberry will perform original songs based on the poetry of Maya Angelou, as well as a selection of Broadway standards.
The newly-added concert will be performed at Orchestra Hall, the Orchestra’s home venue in downtown Minneapolis, on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 8 p.m. Tickets are first available as part of Create Your Own subscription packages beginning April 23, 2018. Renée Elise Goldsberry
In addition to her multi-award-winning performance in Hamilton, Renée Elise Goldsberry has appeared in Baz Luhrmann’s The Get Down for Netflix and played the title role in HBO’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks opposite Oprah Winfrey. She is currently starring in the Netflix series Altered Carbon. Prior to Hamilton, her appearances on stage included her Outer Critics Circle Award-nominated performance opposite Frances McDormand in the play Good People, as well as the original stage version of The Color Purple. She made her Broadway debut in The Lion King and was the last Mimi in Rent. Her off-Broadway appearances have included several Shakespeare productions for the Public Theater’s New York Shakespeare Festival, where Hamilton originated. Her television appearances include her recurring roles on The Good Wife, Law & Order: SVU and The Following. She was nominated twice for a Daytime Emmy Award for her performance on One Life to Live. On film, she appeared most recently in Sisters with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, and in Every Secret Thing with Diane Lane and Elizabeth Banks.
