Director of Information Technology

The Director of Information Technology will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the strategy and implementation roadmap for the Association’s IT systems and infrastructure.  This role will collaborate closely with other leaders, and play a key role in strategy execution, to ensure the Association’s technology has optimal and secure functionality and evolves to keep pace with the evolving needs of the organization and market.

Essential Functions:  

  • Create and manage the technology strategic plan
  • Researches and recommends new technologies or methodologies that will support seamless business operations and the Association’s strategic goals
  • Creates roadmaps and directs implementation of technology projects (may lead projects)
  • Works with other Association leaders to identify and resolve technology needs for specific departmental or enterprise wide purposes
  • Perform as highest-level internal subject matter expert for team and organization
  • Direct the Association’s technology-based systems and staff
  • Provides leadership for and actively engages to assist with Technology team deliverables
  • Direct MSP vendor relationship
  • Manages staff responsible for network and server infrastructure and data communications to include; hardware/software updates, ensuring infrastructure for optimal functionality, network security, and mapping and documentation of the network structure and technology policies
  • Directs and provides technical support for applications used by the Association
  • Participates in selection, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise wide applications
  • Manages enterprise wide technical training as needed
  • Optimizes the use and integration of enterprise wide applications
  • Assess and direct all programming needs for the organization
  • Direct internet and web hosting connectivity for the Association

Minimum Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Networking or related field, or the equivalent amount of training and hands on experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position
  • 10+ of years of hands-on experience in a similar enterprise wide information technology role with at least 3 years mentoring or leading an IT staff
  • Demonstrated capabilities in the following areas:
    • Strategic technology planning and execution
    • Systems Administration
    • Advanced knowledge of current protocols and standards, including Active Directory, MS Exchange, Core Switching/Routing, SAN, Virtualization and business continuity
    • Hardware mechanics, operating systems and software issues of LAN/WAN management, servers and Windows-based workstations
    • Relational database management (MS SQL preferred)
    • Programming experience with SaaS, Powershell, web and communications applications
    • IT purchases
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively communicate with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, vendors or other entities
  • Demonstrated aptitude for preparing and analyzing financial information such as forecasting for annual technology needs, budgeting, and managing expenditures
  • Ability to collaborate with others to identify and solve issues or make proactive recommendations
  • Ability and willingness to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Ability to attend performances, donor receptions, or other Orchestra, Board, or community related events when necessary
  • Ability to participate in on call rotation for Orchestra events
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally if necessary


  • Working knowledge of Service Management Tools, Solarwinds, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Azure or AWS
  • Knowledge of Tessitura, preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Understanding and experience with SQL
